Designed and meticulously constructed to accommodate 120 Japanese Koi fish, each measuring an impressive 24 inches or more, this pond currently houses around 70 imported specimens, including high-quality bloodlines of Japanese Koi.
The entire project, surrounding the pond and its accompanying landscaping, including the swimming pools, took a dedicated team of approximately 12 months to complete. The pond itself boasts a capacity of around 120 cubic meters of water, more than enough to comfortably house the Koi.
Constructed with reinforced concrete (RCC) and featuring a 12 mm support structure, the pond’s interior surface is meticulously finished with cement plastering using a 60 GSM Geotextile material.
A highly durable pond epoxy liner, with a thickness of 160 microns, coats the pond’s interior, effectively inhibiting algae growth on its walls.
Notable features of this pond that ensure hassle-free operation and pristine water quality include:

To maintain water quality and control algae, the biofiltration system runs continuously, while the primary coarse sand filter operates 8-12 hours daily. This schedule ensures that water parameters remain within the desired range, with an ideal pH level of 7.5 to 8.0.
The biofiltration system includes a powerful UV generator sterilizing water 24/7, effectively bounding algae growth as an integral part. A UV clarifier eliminates harmful bacteria, safeguarding Koi from infections and aiding water clarity maintenance.
Adequate aeration is ensured through a high-pressure air compressor delivering 220 LPH, maintaining optimal oxygen levels. Ten high-output micro diffusers evenly disperse air into the pond, promoting a healthy aquatic environment. Regular water quality checks serve as an early warning system for potential issues.
The central objective is to maintain crystal-clear water, requiring only a couple of hours monthly for thorough filter system cleaning.
The filtration system uses a high-capacity sand filter with backwash, effectively channelling dirt and sludge out of the pond.
