Example for Calculating the Cement and Sand Required

Using the given formula and self explanatory example it is very easy to determine the amount of cement and sand required for plastering 100 m2 area.

To calculate the cement and sand for plastering 100 m2 area in 1:5 ratio and 15 mm thickness.

Plastering thickness 12 mm = 12/1000 = 0.012m

Volume of cement mortar required = ( Plastering Area x thickness )= 100 m2 x 0.015m = 1.5 m3

Above is the wet Volume

Consider 35% Sand Bulkage = 1.5 m3 x (1+0.2+0.35) = 2.31 m3

Cement : Sand (Ratio) = 1 : 5 ( Total = 1+5 = 6 Parts )

1, Cement required (1 Part) = 2.31 x 1/6

= 0.386 m3 /0.0347

= 11.11 bags (Approx – 11 Bags)

2, Sand required (5 Part) = 2.31 x 5/6

= 1.93 M3

The Above results are in Cubic meters , kindly use a Area converter to convert the same to Cubic Feet.
