Laminate wooden floorings is a smart option for your home which is eco-friendly as well as economic. The product is manufactured by lamination process which fuses melamine resin with High-density fibre (HDF) board materials and consists of a top photographic image layer of natural wood flooring.
It is then finished with an extremely hard, clear coating made from special resin-coated cellulose to protect the laminate floor. Laminate wooden floorings come in a variety of shades i.e. hardwood, bamboo, knotted wood, etc.
Laminate wooden floorings are ideal for rooms with A/c and can contribute to saving electricity bills. Laminate floorings are advised for patients with Arthritis. The floor gives a warm look to any area. The product expands/contract as per the fluctuations in temperature and Humidity, but it is unaffected by moisture.
Laminate planks are approximately about 3/8” thick and it has a groove locking system so that it can be installed or removed with ease. It’s also very durable, scratch free, easy to maintain and easiest to clean. Laminate wood floors are easy to maintain as it doesn’t require any waxes, polishes, detergents or abrasive cleaner. Laminate flooring is a low-cost alternative to wooden flooring, tile and Granite. However, most quality laminate flooring is not cheap they can cost you anywhere between 125 - 200 Rs plus the installation costs.
Laminate wooden floorings are installed using a method known as floating floorings systems. The minimum installation requirement is a cement plastered floor without undulation. The installation is also very easy,
First, a layer of plastic sheet is laid down. The plastic sheet is of 80- 120 microns approximate thickness which will prevent the ground moisture from surfacing.
Foam sheet of 3 - 4mm thickness is installed, which will reduce noise and provide the necessary shock absorbing/cushioning effect. It will also help to level any minor undulation of the surface.
