HOW TO DETERMINE THE MOISTURE CONTENT OF SOIL

Moisture content/water content is a ratio expressed as a percentage of the weight of water in a given soil mass to the weight of solid particles.

The soil sample is dried in a drying oven at 105 to 110 Degree Celsius, till a constant weight of the soil sample is attained.

Moisture content of w in % = (W2 - W3 / W3- W1) X 100

Where :
W1 = Weight of container with lid in g
W2 = Weight of container with lid with wet soil in g.
W3 = Weight of Container with lid containing dry soil in g.
